Beihai Shipbuilding delivers the 14th 210,000-ton bulk carrier to CMB
On April 23, CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding, in collaboration with CSSC Trading, successfully delivered the 14th 210,000-ton bulk carrier, "MINERAL SVERIGE," to CMB.TECH of Belgium. This is also the 7th vessel delivered by Beihai Shipbuilding this year.
CMB.TECH's ship owner's superintendent Gopi Nair Sudheer Pallippurath, Zhou Yinghui, executive director of CSSC Trading's Ship and Ocean Department II, and Hao David, deputy director of Beihai Shipbuilding's Operation Department, jointly attended the delivery ceremony and signed the protocol, marking a continued deepening of strategic cooperation between the two sides in the field of green ships.
The vessel was independently researched and designed by China Shipbuilding Design and Research Center Co., Ltd. It has an overall length of nearly 300 meters, a breadth of 50 meters, a depth of 25.2 meters, a deadweight tonnage of 210,000 tons, and is classed by Lloyd's Register (LR). It adopts a new generation of energy-saving ship design, meets the IMO Tier III emission standards, and reduces nitrogen oxide emissions by more than 75%. Space is reserved for ammonia fuel power conversion, reflecting the concept of "future fuel readiness."
Since the signing of the first batch of orders in 2021, the two sides have completed the delivery of 14 210,000-ton bulk carriers. This delivery further consolidates CSSC Beihai Shipbuilding's leading position in the large bulk carrier market and provides a demonstration case for Sino-European cooperation in clean energy shipping. In the future, Beihai Shipbuilding will continue to work with CMB.TECH to jointly promote the research and development and construction of ammonia fuel-powered ships to meet the "dual carbon" challenges of the shipping industry.
