Construction starts on the first 500TEU container ship built by Sanfu Shipbuilding
At 10:18 am on August 4th, a groundbreaking ceremony was held in the steel-adding workshop for the first 500TEU container ship (hull number: SF240311) built by Sanfu Shipbuilding for an Indian shipowner. Representatives from the shipowner, Korean Register, and Sanfu Shipbuilding attended the ceremony.
The ship has an overall length of 116.00 meters, a length between perpendiculars of 107.50 meters, a molded breadth of 20.00 meters, a molded depth of 11.00 meters, a design draft of 7.00 meters, a structural draft of 7.50 meters, a speed of approximately 13.2 knots, and is classed by KR.
The detailed design of this vessel was completed by KMSEMEC Design Co., Ltd. of South Korea. In view of the generally inadequate port terminal facilities (especially cranes) along the route, the ship is equipped with two 40-ton cranes, using an unequal height design to optimize the operating sightline. The entire ship has 5 cargo holds, with a standard container capacity of 514TEU. In terms of power configuration, in addition to the standard three generators, the ship innovatively adds a 600KW shaft-driven generator (shaft generator). During normal navigation, the ship only needs to rely on the shaft generator to meet all electricity needs, thus significantly reducing fuel consumption, operating costs, and emission levels. In addition, the new ship reserves a methanol fuel option when classed by KR, facilitating future green transformation of the vessel.
The successful launch of the first 500TEU container ship marks a solid step for Sanfu Shipbuilding in the specialized container ship market that meets the requirements of "small loading, high efficiency, and high environmental protection." This will continuously enhance its international market competitiveness.
