Type 2, 12 ships! This shipyard has received bulk orders in succession.
Tianhai Defense's subsidiary, Jiangsu Dajin Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., has recently secured orders for 12 new ships of two types.
Among them, Dajin Heavy Industry successfully signed a general contract for 6 65-meter AHTS vessels, making new progress in the field of marine engineering market expansion.
The design and development of the 65-meter AHTS is undertaken by Shanghai Bestway Marine Engineering Design Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Tianhai Defense. The design incorporates cutting-edge concepts and exquisite craftsmanship, fully demonstrating Tianhai Defense's design capabilities. This project adopts electric propulsion, equipped with full azimuth thrusters, bow and stern side thrusters, and a DP-2 dynamic positioning system, providing strong towing capabilities to tow large structures such as offshore drilling platforms and FPSOs; equipped with anchor winches and other equipment, it can efficiently complete anchoring operations; it has the ability to load a large amount of materials, which can provide supplies for offshore platforms; some ships have rescue and guard functions, equipped with fire-fighting and life-saving equipment, which can ensure operational safety. As a new generation AHTS, it has the following characteristics:
Intelligence: Equipped with INF (Data Platform), SHM (Ship Structure Health), and MHM (Mechanical Health), significantly improving the intelligence level of ship operation and management.
Cybersecurity: Meets IACS UR E26 ship cyber resilience, UR E27 ship system and equipment cyber resilience, and obtains CR cyber security symbol.
Comprehensive operational capabilities: It has the characteristics of large loading capacity, good seaworthiness, and flexible operation, and also has the advantages of being green and environmentally friendly.
This cooperation fully demonstrates the general contracting capabilities of Tianhai Defense's wholly-owned subsidiary Dajin Heavy Industry EPC Offshore Engineering Center in turnkey projects, which can provide full-process services covering design, construction, and after-sales. This measure not only reflects the profound heritage and comprehensive strength accumulated by Tianhai Defense in the field of marine engineering equipment manufacturing, but also highlights its firm determination to develop the offshore engineering market. Tianhai Defense will take this signing as an important opportunity to deeply cultivate the offshore engineering market, and promote the development of the regional marine economy with advanced ship products, a complete service system, and excellent technical strength.
At the same time, Tianhai Defense released an announcement on August 13 stating that Dajin Heavy Industry and China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Shanghai
Co., Ltd. signed a construction contract for 6 7350 DWT multi-purpose cargo ship projects and the corresponding "Ship Export Cooperation Agreement." Tianhai Defense intends to provide China Shipbuilding Trading with a counter-guarantee of no more than US$59.4 million for the guarantee matters involved in the above-mentioned main contract. The total estimated guarantee amount is approximately RMB 424 million.
The announcement shows that the hull numbers of these 6 multi-purpose cargo ships are DJHC6171, DJHC6172, DJHC6173, DJHC6174, DJHC6175, and DJHC6176. They are planned to start construction successively from June 30, 2026, and will be delivered and put into operation successively from September 2027 to December 2028.
Excluding the above orders, Clarkson's data shows that as of now, Dajin Heavy Industry has a total of 76 ships on hand with 913,462 DWT, including 51 general cargo ships, 12 bulk carriers, 11 container ships, and 2 offshore engineering vessels, with delivery schedules arranged until 2028.
