The 9th 5,900-TEU container ship built by Qingdao Shipyard of China Merchants Ship has begun construction.
On March 2, the ninth 5,900-TEU container ship built by the Qingdao Shipyard of China Merchants Ship was officially launched in the hull workshop, marking the start of its substantive construction phase. Representatives from the shipowner DANAOS, Lloyd's Register of the UK, and the company itself attended the launching ceremony.
This vessel type is a key product on which Qingdao Shipyard is focusing to expand into the international market for building mainstream commercial vessels. Previously, eight ships of the same type have been successfully delivered, and thanks to their outstanding performance and high-quality construction, they have earned high recognition and continued orders from several renowned shipowners, including DANAOS, CMB, and CMA CGM.
During the subsequent construction phase, the Qingdao Shipyard of China Merchants Shipbuilding will further consolidate its mature experience in building this type of vessel, continuously promote lean production, optimize processes, and drive technological innovation. The shipyard will rigorously ensure construction quality, safe production, and adherence to project milestones, making every effort to enhance the vessel’s overall performance and thereby steadily bolster the company’s brand influence and market competitiveness in the international container shipbuilding sector.
