Total Investment of RMB 5.5 Billion: Construction Begins on Another 300,000-DWT Outfitting Terminal in Nantong
On April 29, with the driving of the first pile by the vessel “Jingzhuang 2,” the Jiangsu HanTong Yingji Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. Deep-Sea Intelligent Equipment Manufacturing Base and Associated Terminal Project officially broke ground.
Located approximately 2.5 kilometers upstream from the Sutong Yangtze River Highway Bridge, this project is the closest 300,000-ton-class outfitting terminal to the bridge. The commencement of construction on this project is of great significance for enhancing the operational capabilities of the Tonghai Operation Area within the Tonghai Port Section of Nantong Port and for supporting the development of the deep-sea intelligent equipment manufacturing industry.
With a total investment of RMB 5.5 billion, the project will involve the construction within the existing plant site (No. 6 Dongfang Avenue) of one paint shop featuring one spray and three coating lines, one 300,000-dwt offshore engineering dry dock, one “dry”-shaped berth, and associated supporting facilities. The planned layout includes two 300,000-dwt outfitting berths, one 100,000-dwt outfitting berth, three 50,000-dwt outfitting berths, one 20,000-dwt outfitting berth, and three workboat berths.
Specifically, the offshore engineering dry dock has a total length of 545 meters, a width of 128 meters, and a depth of 14.5 meters; the effective dimensions of the dock chamber are 530 meters in length and 128 meters in width. Both sides and the rear of the dry dock are equipped with assembly areas totaling approximately 80 mu in size. The “dry”-shaped quay consists of the primary quay, the secondary quay, and approach bridges. Within the primary quay, both the inner and outer sections are further divided by the approach bridge into upstream and downstream portions. The primary quay platform is 800 meters long (with an upstream width of 28 meters and a downstream width of 32 meters); the outer section accommodates two 300,000-ton-class outfitting berths, while the inner upstream section includes one 100,000-ton-class outfitting berth and three workboat berths, and the inner downstream section features one 50,000-ton-class outfitting berth. The secondary quay platform is 760 meters long (with an upstream width of 28 meters and a downstream width of 32 meters): the upstream section comprises two 50,000-ton-class outfitting berths, and the downstream section includes one 20,000-ton-class outfitting berth that also serves as a materials berth. Approach Bridge No. 1 is 226 meters long, and Approach Bridge No. 2 is 380 meters long, with both bridges having a width of 24 meters.
Upon completion, the project will have an annual production capacity of 120,000 tonnes of deep-sea offshore wind power equipment and 180,000 tonnes of ships, significantly enhancing Nantong, Jiangsu’s capabilities in the manufacturing and supply chain for offshore engineering equipment and injecting new momentum into the region’s marine economy.
According to available information, Jiangsu HanTong Yingji Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. is a subsidiary of the HanTong Group, with its core business encompassing the design and manufacture of high-end small- and medium-sized LNG carriers, stainless-steel chemical tankers, marine LNG storage tanks, offshore wind-farm foundation steel structures, booster stations, converter stations, and other marine and offshore engineering equipment. The company occupies approximately 1.16 million square meters of land, features a 1,700-meter-long deep-water shoreline, and has an annual steel-processing capacity of 200,000 metric tons (including 30,000 metric tons of stainless steel). Its principal facilities include: a 260,000-square-meter complex housing preparation, hull construction, and pipe-and-outfitting workshops; a 140,000-square-meter workshop dedicated to hull and pipe-and-outfitting fabrication; a “dry” outfitting berth measuring 1,600 meters in length, 22 meters in width, and 12.5 meters in water depth; as well as various supporting infrastructure and ancillary equipment.
