Two 6,000-ton dual-fuel chemical tankers built by China Merchants Shipbuilding at Yangzhou Dingheng were named on the same day.
On May 21, China Merchants Shipbuilding’s Yangzhou Dingheng Shipyard held the naming ceremony for two 6,000‑ton dual‑fuel chemical tankers built for a British shipowner. Guests from the shipowner, the classification society, the financing institution, the construction supervision team, and the design institute gathered on site to witness the completion of the new vessels and the fruitful outcomes of their collaborative efforts.
At the ceremony, the atmosphere was both solemn and festive. Zhou Ling, General Manager of CMBFL’s Marketing Department, and Teng Xiaoyu, wife of Iain Salter, Head of Newbuildings at FE, served as godmothers for the two vessels, christening them “NARWHAL FISHER” and “TIGER FISHER.” In accordance with tradition, they cut the mooring lines and tossed champagne, wishing the ships a steady course, long service, and safe voyages.
The successful naming of these two dual-fuel chemical tankers marks another significant milestone in the long-standing, deep‑seated collaboration between Yangzhou Dingheng and its shipowner clients, and represents yet another impressive achievement for the shipyard in the construction of green, high‑end chemical tankers. Guided by customer needs, Yangzhou Dingheng has consistently delivered premium vessels to shipowners worldwide, leveraging its solid technical foundation, rigorous quality control, and highly efficient project execution. The smooth progress of this project fully demonstrates Yangzhou Dingheng’s mature technologies and extensive experience in building dual‑fuel powered ships, further strengthening the company’s brand presence in the international chemical tanker market.
Looking ahead, Yangzhou Dingheng will continue to uphold its commitment to the artisan spirit of relentless pursuit of excellence, steadily advancing the construction and delivery of subsequent vessels to ensure that each ship is delivered to the owner in peak condition. At the same time, the company will cherish the deep bonds it has forged with its shipowner partners, further strengthening mutual trust and expanding areas of collaboration, jointly delivering more high‑quality vessels that stand the test of the market, and achieving mutual benefit, win‑win outcomes, and shared growth.
