Yangzijiang Shipbuilding’s first 40,000-cubic-meter Type A tank dual-fuel LPG vessel has been delivered.

On July 21, the 40,000-cubic-meter Type A tank dual-fuel LPG carrier “MFM NICOLE,” built by Yangzijiang Sanjin—a subsidiary of Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group—for a Japanese shipowner, cast off from the shipyard’s quay and commenced its maiden voyage.

The vessel “MFM NICOLE” is the lead ship of this six‑ship series. It has a length overall of 180.00 meters, a molded breadth of 29.00 meters, a molded depth of 19.00 meters, and a design draft of 10.60 meters. Its design service speed is 16 knots, and it is classed with LR. Construction commenced on May 12, 2025, and the vessel successfully completed its sea trials on June 14, 2026.

The vessel is equipped with three independent prismatic Type A cargo tanks, offering a total capacity of 40,000 cubic meters. Its minimum operating temperature is −50°C, and its maximum density at full load is 690 kg/m³. It can flexibly carry a variety of liquefied gases, including anhydrous ammonia, propane, and butane, boasting broad cargo versatility, strong loading capacity, and high safety and reliability. Through optimized hull form and tank arrangement, the ship is compatible with major LNG terminals worldwide, demonstrating excellent operational flexibility and market adaptability.

Meanwhile, the vessel is equipped with an LPG‑dual‑fuel main engine and features SCR systems on both the main and auxiliary engines, meeting Tier III emission standards and enabling near‑zero NOx emissions. It is a medium‑size, fully refrigerated liquefied gas carrier that combines environmental friendliness, low energy consumption, extended endurance, and excellent operational economics, with overall technical performance at an industry‑leading level.

The successful delivery of this vessel further expands Yangzijiang Shipbuilding Group’s portfolio of high-end gas carriers, strengthens the Group’s shipbuilding capabilities and market competitiveness in the clean-energy gas‑transport sector, and lays a solid foundation for the high‑quality construction and delivery of subsequent vessels in the series.

At 9:30 a.m. on July 21, the vessel “MFM NICOLE” was successfully delivered via electronic signature.
