The keel of Changhong International’s third 3,100-TEU container vessel was laid.
At 8:58 a.m. on October 8, the keel-laying ceremony for CHB2085, the third 3,100-TEU container vessel built by Changhong International for the Greek shipowner COSTAMARE SHIPPING, was held at Berth No. 3. The ceremony was attended and witnessed by Watermark Consultants’ on-site project team, Mr. Wang Jiangpeng, DNV classification society’s project manager, along with his team, as well as Changhong International’s leadership and heads of relevant departments.
This vessel type was developed by Neptun Design and is a highly competitive feeder‑container ship. With an overall length of approximately 199.98 meters, a molded breadth of 35.2 meters, and a molded depth of 17.9 meters, it is classed with DNV. The ship is equipped with a medium‑voltage shore power system, enabling the shutdown of onboard generators while at berth and thereby significantly reducing atmospheric pollutants such as carbon and sulfur emissions.
The hull form has been optimized for various draft and trim conditions, enabling a service speed of over 18.6 knots at 90% SMCR and significantly reducing fuel consumption in economical cruising mode. The entire vessel’s structure has undergone strength verification and reinforcement via finite element analysis, ensuring adequate performance under all anticipated load cases, including potential impact loads. The ship is equipped with an exhaust gas desulfurization system, allowing the use of high-sulfur fuel to enhance operational economics; meanwhile, both the main engine and the main generator are fitted with SCR systems, meeting Tier III emission standards.
