40 days in advance! Beihai Shipbuilding delivers CMB's ninth ammonia reserved bulk carrier

On October 21st, China Shipbuilding Group Qingdao Beihai Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. and China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Limited, as joint sellers, completed the signing and delivery of the 210000 ton ammonia reserve bulk carrier "MINERAL HELLAS" built for Belgian CMB company. This is the ninth ship in the 210000 ton bulk carrier series built by Beihai Shipbuilding for CMB company.
During the construction process, Beihai Shipbuilding adopted new technologies such as rudder first and propeller later, integrated lifting of hatch enclosure and hatch cover, and complete lifting of the upper construction section. The shipbuilding and sea trial cycles were significantly increased, and the delivery was 40 days ahead of the contracted delivery date. During the trial voyage, the ship verified that various indicators such as speed, fuel consumption, and operability exceeded the contract requirements, and its performance reached the international advanced level. The EEDI index was 33.8% lower than the baseline value, meeting the third stage emission requirements and receiving high recognition from the shipowner.
As of October 2024, a total of 16 new ships have been delivered, and Beihai Shipbuilding has set its annual target. With a sense of mission and responsibility that cannot wait for time, it focuses on "ensuring ship delivery, controlling costs, and strengthening management", and strives to fight hard for the fourth quarter and win the final battle, ensuring the smooth achievement of the annual production and operation goals and contributing Beihai's strength to the construction of a world-class shipbuilding group.
The vessel "MINERAL HELLAS" has been registered with the American Bureau of Shipping and was designed by China Shipbuilding Design and Research Center Co., Ltd. The vessel has a total length of 299.95 meters, a width of 50 meters, a depth of 25.2 meters, a carrying capacity of 210799 tons, and a service speed of 14.69 knots.
This series of ships fully considers the installation space of ammonia fuel storage tanks, ammonia fuel refueling and supply systems, and their pipelines during the design process. Based on preliminary assessment and gas diffusion analysis, determine the layout of doors, windows, and ventilation masts in the living building to provide support for the subsequent modification of ammonia fuel.
This ship is equipped with an energy efficiency monitoring system and a shaft mounted generator, making the new ship more environmentally friendly and energy-efficient. At the same time, the vessel has also modified its mooring arrangements in accordance with the latest regulations of the Panama Canal authorities, which can meet the requirements for passing through the Panama Canal.
