Zhongwei Company launches the largest carbon fiber high-speed passenger ship with passenger capacity in China

On November 4th, the launching ceremony of the 500 passenger carbon fiber high-speed passenger ship "New Pearl 3" built by China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Company and Guangdong Zhongwei Composite Materials Co., Ltd. for Hong Kong New Ferry Service Co., Ltd. was held in Nansha, Guangzhou. This ship is currently the largest carbon fiber vessel in China in terms of passenger capacity.
The "New Pearl 3" is the 8th vessel out of a total of 11 ships undertaken by China Shipbuilding Group Guangzhou Company for the China Hong Kong New Ferry offshore project. The ship is a carbon fiber conventional propulsion high-speed passenger ferry, with a length of 44.75 meters, a width of 11 meters, a depth of 3.65 meters, a designed draft of 1.4 meters, a designed speed of 26 knots, and a maximum speed of 33 knots when fully loaded.
It is reported that compared with aluminum alloy materials commonly used in shipbuilding, carbon fiber materials have advantages such as light weight and corrosion resistance. Compared to traditional ships, carbon fiber ships have lower noise during navigation, and can further save fuel and reduce maintenance costs, with significant advantages in energy conservation, emission reduction, and low-carbon environmental protection. However, due to limitations in technology and material supply, carbon fiber materials were generally only used on small and medium-sized ships with a length of less than 40 meters in China.
New Pearl 3 is expected to be completed and delivered by the end of December this year. The "New Pearl 3", a carbon fiber high-speed passenger ship with a capacity of 500 passengers, will be used for Hong Kong's outlying island routes, just like the "New Pearl 6" delivered earlier this year.
Passenger ships are an important means of transportation for Hong Kong residents and tourists. Taking Cheung Chau in Hong Kong as an example, more than 30000 residents on the island need to rely on boats to enter and exit Cheung Chau. In case of activities such as floating scenery parades, the daily passenger capacity of the Central to Cheung Chau route can reach up to 70000 people.
On the basis of mature mother ship types, the "New Pearl 3" has been optimized and upgraded according to the characteristics of offshore routes, effectively enhancing structural strength and meeting the requirements of ships for structural strength under various working conditions; Improved the seaworthiness and operability of the vessel, enabling safe navigation in wind conditions up to level 8; The ship is equipped with lithium battery packs and solar energy storage panels, which can ensure the operation of various basic electrical facilities when the ship docks, effectively reducing daily fuel consumption, reducing daily emissions, and making it more environmentally friendly.
