Five ships! This shipyard has received another order from factory ship

Norwegian shipyard VARD has received a contract to design and construct five "walking to work" vessels for an international client to serve offshore oil and gas platforms.
It is reported that these new ships will adopt the VARD 3 32 design, with a length of about 88 meters and a width of about 19.8 meters, accommodating 190 people. They will be jointly designed by VARD and this unnamed client, and will provide maintenance, supply, and operation services for offshore platforms in the oil and gas field.
The new ship will be equipped with a hybrid propulsion system of diesel electric and battery, a 3D motion compensated gangway system, and a 3D motion compensated crane, which can provide a high degree of accommodation comfort and excellent working environment for crew and technicians.
All 5 new ships will be built, assembled, commissioned, and delivered by VARD Vietnam Vung Tau shipyard. The first 4 ships will be delivered in the second half of 2027, and the last ship will be delivered in early 2028.
Cathrine Kristiester Marti, CEO of VARD Group, said, "This contract demonstrates our strength in developing tailored solutions. We are committed to collaborating with our clients to explore and design new advanced vessels and solutions. These new vessels will be highly versatile platforms for maritime support operations, focusing on providing logistics, comfort, large storage capacity, and excellent operability. Their design is also prepared for the widespread use of electricity in the future, providing sustainable options
