On January 2, 2025, the first working day of the year, the first ship of the 114000 ton Aframax product oil tanker series, the "SEASCOUT" (H1572), built by Shanghai Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation, in collaboration with China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd., for the Greek company Thenamaris, was signed and delivered. It became the first Shanghai shipbuilding company to achieve the target of closing ships in 2025, achieving a good start to the new year and continuing the high-quality and high-efficiency shipbuilding rhythm of batch, standardization, and rhythm in 2024.

This delivery officially marks the beginning of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding's comprehensive, efficient, and high-quality completion of various production tasks for the year 2025. Costel Morun, the resident manager of Thenamaris, Jiang Binbin, the deputy general manager of the European department of China Shipbuilding Industry Trading Co., Ltd., and Li Hui, the deputy director of the marketing department of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding, signed the delivery documents on behalf of the three parties. The "Ocean Detective" is the latest generation of Afra type product oil tanker independently developed and designed by Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding. This series of ships has greatly improved the energy efficiency level of the entire ship through comprehensive hydrodynamic performance optimization, configuration of hydrodynamic energy-saving ducts and vortex dissipating fins, optimization of main engine selection, and other measures. The EEDI index verified by actual ships has reached the requirements of the third stage of the International Maritime Organization (IMO) in 2025 ahead of schedule. At the same time, nitrogen oxide emissions meet Tier III requirements, and sulfur oxide emissions meet emission requirements, which are highly favored by customers. It is an environmentally friendly, energy-saving, safe, and economical green ship.

The 114000 ton Afra type oil tanker is one of the key products of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding's current batch construction. Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has delivered nearly 60 Afra type oil tankers so far, and currently holds more than 20 orders. In the construction process of the "Ocean Detective" ship, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding actively implemented the high-quality development concept of lean management and new quality productivity, strictly implemented the enterprise's "four clearances" management method (clearing opinions as required before docking, leaving the dock, trial voyage, and delivery), created Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding's exclusive "factory rhythm", consolidated and optimized the enterprise's rhythm and mass production.

On the basis of fully summarizing past construction experience, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding has continuously implemented process advancement and optimized production rhythm through a series of innovative and breakthrough techniques. Significant breakthroughs have been made in the integrity status of the "Ocean Detective" ship's dock departure, and the rapid drainage scheme of the cargo oil pipeline has ensured the continuous operation of the special coating construction on the critical path of the project; Multiple new construction techniques have been implemented, such as overall boring, shaft stuffing, and propeller installation, as well as multi island construction in the dock, providing successful examples for subsequent project construction. Completed all mooring test projects before the trial voyage, setting a new record for the shortest trial voyage of Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding's first 114000 ton Afra product oil tanker after leaving the dock!

New year's delivery of new ships, start construction and sprint. In 2025, Waigaoqiao Shipbuilding will have more diverse ship types under construction and more abundant production tasks: 114000 tons of Afra type oil tankers will be delivered continuously; The serialization and mass construction of oil tankers and automobile transport ships have entered the "fast lane"; The construction of the sixth 2.3 million barrel "universal" floating production storage and offloading vessel (FPSO) for high-end offshore equipment products has begun; The second domestically produced large cruise ship has successively achieved key target milestones such as full ship connection, first floating, main engine train, and cabin pushing work.
