VARD Shipyard named the third trawl fishing vessel built by Nergard Havfiske

Recently, the Norwegian VARD shipyard held a naming ceremony for the trawl fishing vessel "Sorkappp" built for Nergard Havfiske in Tromso.
This is the third ship delivered by VARD to Nergard Havfiske, following the Breidtid and Senja. The Sorkpapp has a captain of 80.4 meters, a width of 16.7 meters, and can accommodate 25 crew members. Its hull was built by Vard Braila shipyard in Romania and outfitted at Vard Brattvaag shipyard in Norway.
The Sorkapp is an advanced trawler designed by VARD 8 02, which was developed in close collaboration with Nergard Havfiske. Its common goal is to build an advanced trawler equipped with all the latest technologies.
This ship has excellent fuel economy and is suitable for semi ocean and bottom trawl operations, emphasizing the gentle handling of catch to meet the latest requirements for fish health, efficiency, and environmental protection. Trawl fishing boats use the most efficient technology to transport their catch to land, and attach great importance to product quality, crew safety, and sustainable operations, thereby minimizing the impact on the environment. The hull has been reinforced with ice according to the 1A ice class standard, and the propulsion system of the ship complies with DNV's strict F-class silent regulations.
The development of modern living areas on board ships places great emphasis on the welfare of crew members, including public spaces designed by architects, daytime lounges and restaurants, fitness rooms, low-noise cabins, and attractive interior decorations. Vard Interiors offers a comprehensive interior decoration solution that includes turnkey solutions such as furniture, residential plumbing, supply systems, and HVAC (air conditioning and ventilation systems).
The ship is also equipped with Vard Electric's SeaQ energy storage system, an innovative battery system that allows the trawler to recover electricity from the permanent magnet motor on the trawl winch in shooting mode and provide electricity in the undulating mode of the trawl winch. All of these are coordinated with the SeaQ power management system, achieving seamless integration with the diesel electric hybrid propulsion system, thereby minimizing fuel consumption and greenhouse gas emissions. The innovative heat recovery system further improves overall efficiency.
