Jiangmen Nanyang Shipbuilding delivers the second bulk carrier to Zhongyuan Shipping
On May 20, Jiangmen Nanyang Shipbuilding successfully delivered the second 40,500-deadweight ton bulk carrier, "CL DEMOCRACY," built for Zhongyuan Shipping. This is the third "new member" since Zhongyuan Shipping initiated its fleet restructuring.
The "DEMOCRACY" (JNS632) measures 179.9 meters in length, 30 meters in width, with a deadweight tonnage of 40,500 and a design draft of 10.95 meters. The ship boasts an advanced and eco-friendly design with enhanced cargo adaptability: it features a large hatch opening, a 36-ton crane, allowing for the loading of more heavy and unconventional cargo, significantly improving loading and unloading speed; its energy-saving and emission-reduction advantages are prominent, with a design speed of 13.5 knots and a main engine fuel consumption of 16.7 tons/day. It also meets the requirements of the third phase of the Energy Efficiency Design Index (EEDI) and the IMO Tier-III emission standards.
Zhongyuan Shipping is actively responding to the global shipping industry's low-carbon transformation. This new vessel achieves a breakthrough in operational efficiency, providing safer and more efficient freight services to customers. In the future, Zhongyuan Shipping will continue to use customer needs as its navigation mark and innovation as its engine, working with partners to explore a broader blue ocean market!
After the ceremony, the "DEMOCRACY" will begin its maiden voyage on May 21 and officially commence operation on Zhongyuan Shipping's Mediterranean general cargo liner route, providing customers with stable and reliable transportation services.
It is understood that Zhongyuan Shipping has been deeply involved in the international bulk and break-bulk shipping market. Since its establishment in 2001, it has grown steadily and has become a shipping company operating more than 100 vessels with a carrying capacity exceeding 7 million deadweight tons and an annual cargo volume of approximately 30 million tons. In 2024, to promote high-quality development and enhance customer experience, Zhongyuan Shipping promoted the upgrading and adjustment of its fleet structure. Throughout 2025, five new vessels will be added to Zhongyuan Shipping's fleet, further increasing the long-term self-owned fleet capacity to 22 vessels and 1.2 million deadweight tons.
