Three parties join hands to create Hainan's first pure electric cold chain shipping demonstration project, with 16 vessels put into operation in 3 years!
On June 30, 2024, Sandianshui New Energy Technology Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Wuhu Shipyard, CATL Electric Ship Technology Co., Ltd., and Hainan Shumahe Fishery Technology Co., Ltd. officially signed a strategic cooperation agreement in Ningde City. The three parties jointly launched the Qiongzhou Strait pure electric cold chain container shipping demonstration project—the "Shumahe Fresh Express Line." This project is not only Hainan's first pure electric cold chain shipping demonstration project, but also marks the substantial stage of green upgrading of the Qiongzhou Strait logistics channel.
This cooperation focuses on technological complementarity and in-depth scene integration. The three parties will jointly build an integrated solution of "all-electric ships + intelligent power exchange + green cold chain," forming a full-chain advantage covering the research and development, manufacturing, and operation of cold chain water transport logistics. This solution not only provides core support for the new low-carbon logistics infrastructure of Hainan Free Trade Port but also promotes the closed-loop implementation of "technology research and development-equipment manufacturing-scenario application."
As the core carrier of the project, the "Shumahe Fresh Express Line" deeply connects with Hainan Province's "Strive for Maritime Strength" strategy, focusing on the development of the marine economy and the upgrading needs of the tropical agricultural product supply chain. According to the plan, the project will put into operation 16 pure electric cold chain transport vessels within three years, forming the capacity to transport 3 million tons of fresh goods annually, injecting strong impetus into the development of new marine productivity.
In the three-party cooperation, Sandianshui New Energy, relying on Hainan's layout and the "Hainan Intelligent Manufacturing" plan, leads the full-process research and development and construction of pure electric cold chain container ships, building a complete closed loop of "technology + manufacturing + scenario," helping Hainan to move towards the world's first "zero-carbon" free trade port;
CATL Electric Ship Technology provides a tailor-made high-efficiency power solution, covering core components such as container batteries, AC/DC power distribution systems, propulsion motors, and energy control systems, providing stable and efficient power support for ships;
Hainan Shumahe, relying on its deep cultivation experience in the tropical fresh food supply chain, is responsible for the collection and distribution scheduling of fresh goods and market channel integration, realizing seamless connection from "ship-port-warehouse-city."
The three parties will join forces: Sandianshui's strong shipbuilding capabilities, CATL's top-notch battery and power technology, and Shumahe's expertise in fresh food supply chains—all parties working together, with determination and ability, will build the "Shumahe Fresh Express Line" into a benchmark project for green and low-carbon development, jointly writing a new chapter in the development of new marine productivity.
It is understood that the project has been included in Hainan Province's major project development plan and has become a landmark project for the green upgrading of Qiongzhou Strait logistics. Through the in-depth synergy of zero-carbon ships and intelligent charging and swapping networks, the project will achieve zero-carbon emissions throughout the entire chain, providing a replicable practical model for Hainan Free Trade Port's "dual-carbon" goals and setting a demonstration benchmark for the green transformation of inland river and coastal shipping nationwide.
It is worth noting that the project's radiation effect will not be limited to China. In the future, the three parties plan to expand from Hainan to the Beibu Gulf and Southeast Asia, building a zero-carbon logistics corridor connecting the Qiongzhou Strait and Southeast Asia. This layout will not only enhance the international logistics hub status of Hainan Free Trade Port but also provide technology output and standard references for the Southeast Asian green shipping market, creating a globally influential zero-carbon logistics brand.
