The 51st vessel completed! Hudong-Zhonghua's LNG carrier for the Qatar project is named
On the morning of July 22, Hudong-Zhonghua held a naming ceremony for the 174,000 cubic meter LNG carrier "AL MAS'HABIYYAH," built for a Qatari energy project.
This is the 51st LNG carrier built by Hudong-Zhonghua. Its completion embodies the wisdom and hard work of the ship owner, charterer, supervision team, and the entire project team. It signifies closer cooperation among project parties, forming a virtuous cycle of mutual trust and assistance in the LNG "investment-construction-operation-trade" industrial chain, further enhancing the resilience and industry voice of China's LNG industry chain.
Ms. Wang Huilian, the naming guest, cut the ribbon for the new ship, and Chen Jianliang, Secretary of the Party Committee and Chairman of Hudong-Zhonghua, presented flowers to Ms. Wang. Ren Yongqiang, Assistant General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING Group and Chairman of COSCO SHIPPING LNG, Xu Hui, Deputy General Manager of China Merchants Energy Shipping, Zhang Yong, Deputy General Manager of COSCO SHIPPING LNG, Ryutaro Osawa, Executive Officer of NYK Energy Headquarters, Zhang Xiufeng, Deputy General Manager of Hudong-Zhonghua, Xiao Zhijian, Secretary of the Discipline Inspection Commission, and leaders and guests from Malaysia Shipping, CLNG, Kawasaki Kisen Kaisha, ABS, CCS, GTT, and CSSC Trading attended the ceremony. Zhang Yong and Zhang Xiufeng delivered speeches at the ceremony, and Huang Huabing, Deputy Chief Constructor of LNG at Hudong-Zhonghua, presided over the ceremony.
"AL MAS'HABIYYAH" is a 174,000 cubic meter LNG carrier, the fifth generation of Hudong-Zhonghua's independently developed and designed "Changheng series." It is specially customized according to the technical standards of QatarEnergy's globally largest LNG fleet, integrating the latest design concepts, optimal technical equipment, highest environmental performance, and the essence of Hudong-Zhonghua's previous LNG carrier designs.
The ship has an overall length of 299 meters, a molded breadth of 46.4 meters, and a molded depth of 26.25 meters. It adopts the latest generation of double-skeg hull form and is equipped with a number of low-carbon and digital technologies and equipment. All performance indicators have reached world-leading levels, and it is classed by the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and the China Classification Society (CCS).
After Hudong-Zhonghua's relocation to the island, its hardware facilities have been upgraded and expanded, and its design, production, and management systems have simultaneously undergone digital transformation. Lean management has promoted quality improvement and efficiency enhancement in various projects, accelerating its progress towards the goal of "building a world-class marine equipment industrial group." The main construction task was undertaken by the No. 3 General Assembly Department. The integrity of the vessel was improved during the dry-docking process, and the LNG filling was completed in only 6 days. All technical indicators reached excellent status, resulting in an early naming ceremony.
The ship owner stated that during the construction of the series of ships, Hudong-Zhonghua actively promoted the application of new technologies and processes, continuously improving construction efficiency and quality, focusing on building high-quality ships, and achieving remarkable results that have attracted attention from the industry.
