Wuhan Shipbuilding Heavy Industry exported two new-generation shallow-draft self-elevating offshore support platforms.
On August 3, two new-generation shallow-draft self-elevating offshore support platforms, JANA506 and JANA507, built by Wuhan Shipbuilding Machinery Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of China Shipbuilding Group, set sail from Qingdao Haixi Heavy Machinery Wharf for Saudi Arabia. With a draft of 2 meters at full load, these platforms can service oil fields in the shallow waters of the Persian Gulf. The delivery of this equipment contributes new achievements to the Belt and Road Initiative.
As representative works in the field of manufacturing self-elevating offshore support platforms, the JANA506 and JANA507 platforms are new-generation shallow-draft self-propelled and self-elevating offshore platforms designed and built specifically for offshore oil fields. Both platforms have obtained the "SMART" class notation from the American Bureau of Shipping (ABS) and integrate a number of core technologies with independent intellectual property rights, representing the international advanced level of design for this type of platform. Designed with green and environmental protection in mind, the platform not only boasts high efficiency but also features an advanced intelligent system and a shallow draft design, enabling it to perform diverse operations such as platform elevation, cargo lifting, and self-propelled navigation in complex marine environments. Furthermore, each platform can accommodate 120 crew members.
As the flagship and pioneer in system integration among domestic shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment supporting enterprises, Wuhan Shipbuilding Machinery's offshore platform business segment has experienced rapid development over a decade. Through independent research and development and technological innovation, the data chain collection and overall debugging cycle of key components such as lifting systems and lifting equipment have been effectively guaranteed, achieving a leading advantage in the niche market of self-elevating offshore support platforms. To date, it has undertaken the general contracting of more than 40 self-elevating offshore platforms, with self-elevating offshore support platforms exported mainly operating in the Middle East, providing services for internationally renowned oil companies. It is the world's largest manufacturer of this type of platform.
Wuhan Shipbuilding Machinery actively cultivates new high-quality productivity and creates differentiated products around the self-elevating offshore platform industry, continuously improving product quality and efficiency. The two intelligent self-elevating offshore support platforms have integrated lean management thinking into the entire process of product research and development and design and technical management. Through standardized processes, optimized work methods, and the introduction of lean tools, lean design and process collaboration are promoted to achieve quality improvement. Focusing on design optimization, Wuhan Shipbuilding Machinery enhances its integrated R&D capabilities, shortening the technical preparation period for the platform's commencement to 45 days, laying the foundation for efficient construction of offshore platforms.
Under the guidance of the national Belt and Road Initiative, Wuhan Shipbuilding Machinery, guided by the culture of "China Shipbuilding Group, Leading the Deep Blue," continuously improves its technical level in shipbuilding and marine engineering equipment and its overall contracting and design and construction capabilities for offshore platforms. It develops new high-quality productivity from directions such as core intelligence, comprehensive digitalization, and the application of intelligent manufacturing technologies, contributing the strength of China Shipbuilding Group to promoting the green, intelligent, and high-end development of offshore platforms.
