Jiangnan Shipyard’s No. 3 Dry Dock Completes Second Annual Batch of Ship Launches on Schedule
On March 31, Dock No. 3 at Jiangnan Shipyard saw the second batch of ship launches for the year, with two fully assembled ships, two half-ships, and one ring section being floated out.
With this batch’s dock-out, the construction team successfully navigated the operational challenges posed by the Spring Festival holiday, streamlined the seamless coordination of processes across all departments, and leveraged technological advancements and enhanced management practices to ensure on-time dock-out—thus serving as a vivid demonstration of our commitment and hard work toward achieving the annual production target of eight dock-outs.
The fifth vessel in the 15,000 TEU methanol dual-fuel container ship series built by Jiangnan Shipyard for CMA CGM—H2795—has been floated out of the dry dock. Prior to floating-out, the vessel successfully achieved the “331” objectives: “three zeros” (zero onboard cargo, zero trial containers, and zero painting defects), “three network connections” (pipeline network connected, power grid connected, and information network connected), and readiness of the main engine for commissioning; it also completed the initial oil-injection for the main engine lubrication system, conducted full-ship simulated container stowage and simulated container lashing trials, and ensured that all lights on board were illuminated three days before floating-out. Furthermore, the overall paint finish of this vessel is 30% improved compared with previous builds, laying a solid foundation for shortening the yard construction schedule and achieving early delivery.
The seventh vessel in the series of 99,000-cubic-meter very large ethane carriers (VLECs) built by Jiangnan Shipyard for Southwest Shipping Company—H2714—has been floated out of the dock. The construction team has efficiently maintained the “33” construction rhythm, achieving two major breakthroughs: completion of coating for all ballast tanks on all sister ships; and completion of coating inspection and handover for the engine room area, energization of the engine-room electrical network, verification of the forward conventional piping system, and splicing of the liquid cargo piping system, thereby facilitating the rapid commencement of commissioning during the subsequent berth construction phase.
The two semi-hulls and ring sections being floated out simultaneously are the semi-hull and ring section of the 14,000 TEU single-fuel container vessel (H2871) built by Jiangnan Shipyard for Boya Shipping, as well as those of the eighth vessel in the 99,000-cubic-meter VLEC series (H2715) constructed for Southwest Shipping. The construction team successfully mitigated the impact of simultaneously building a 1,600-ton gantry crane in Dock No. 3 on the production schedule, thereby smoothly maintaining the “33” construction rhythm. Prior to floating-out, H2871 completed shaft and rudder system installation as well as main-engine hoisting; it is expected to undergo float-in alignment within the dock after floating-out. For H2715, line-erection and lighting were completed 26 days after entering the dock, main-engine hoisting was finished in 35 days, and key milestones such as completion of cable verification in the lower engine-room level were all accomplished before floating-out, thus creating favorable conditions for the next batch of vessels to leave the dock.
