Two 50,000-ton oil and chemical tankers of Changhong International were named on the same day.
At 10:58 a.m. on July 3, Zhoushan Changhong International held a grand naming ceremony for the second and third 50,000‑ton oil‑chemical tankers it built for Greece’s HORIZON TANKERS—“HORIZON ATHANASIA” (CHB5007) and “HORIZON LEDA” (CHB5009). This milestone once again highlights a pivotal moment in the strategic cooperation between the two parties.
The ceremony was both elegant and vibrant. In attendance were Ms. Comninos of the shipowner, HORIZON TANKERS, along with her daughter, Danae Stamatiou; Executive President Mr. Dimitrios A. Heliotis; Newbuilding Manager Mr. Terzakis Filippos; Mr. Nikolaos Tsatsaros, Vice President and Greater China Manager of Lloyd’s Register (LR), together with representatives from the classification society; as well as Mr. Shen Zhihua, General Manager of Zhoushan Changhong International Dinghai Shipyard; Mr. Lin Feng, Deputy General Manager of Shipbuilding; Mr. Liu Ming, Assistant to the General Manager of Shipbuilding; Mr. Fu Dafei, and other key members of the management and project teams.
During his address, Shen Zhihua fondly recalled the many milestones and details of the project’s progress, extending heartfelt gratitude to HORIZON TANKERS for its longstanding trust and unwavering support. He also paid tribute to LR Classification Society for its expert guidance and rigorous oversight throughout the entire construction process. He particularly emphasized that all accolades would have been impossible without the dedicated project team on the front lines—whose tireless efforts and relentless pursuit of excellence have turned today’s achievements from blueprints into reality.
In his remarks, Mr. Dimitrios A. Heliotis, CEO of HORIZON TANKERS, highly commended the comprehensive strength of their partner, noting: “Changhong International has not only fully met our expectations but has also redefined industry standards across multiple dimensions.” He also paid special tribute to the designers and every craftsman involved in the construction, praising their skillful hands for transforming steel into the very soul of these maritime giants.

The vessel has an overall length of approximately 182.95 meters, a molded breadth of 32.2 meters, and a molded depth of 19.1 meters, and is classed with Lloyd’s Register. Notably, the “HORIZON ATHANASIA” is scheduled for formal delivery to the shipowner in mid-month and will enter service shortly thereafter.
