Samsung Heavy Industries names and delivers dual fuel container ship for Dafei

On December 16th, Samsung Heavy Industries of South Korea held a naming and delivery ceremony for the 7300TEU dual fuel LNG powered container ship "CMA CGM Adventure" built for France's Dafei Shipping.
This is the ninth LNG dual fuel container ship in a series of 10 ordered by Dafei from Samsung Heavy Industries between 2021 and 2022. A month ago, Dafei just received another ship of the same series, the CMA CGM Fort Diamant, from Samsung Heavy Industries.
The CMA CGM Adventure is 268 meters long and 43 meters wide, with a carrying capacity of 85500 tons. It is equipped with various energy-saving and emission reduction devices as well as the new generation intelligent ship solution SVESSEL, and is flying the Maltese flag. This ship will be deployed on the Chesapeake Bay Express (CBX) service connecting Asia and North America.
Dafei has set a goal of achieving net zero emissions by 2050. As of the third quarter of 2023, Dafei has invested $17 billion (approximately RMB 123.165 billion) to build a fleet consisting of nearly 120 LNG powered and methanol powered ships, which will be delivered before 2027.
Recently, Dafei announced plans to build a new zero emission inland transportation solution in Vietnam, including a 100% battery powered electric barge and necessary charging infrastructure, whose energy will come from a new solar power plant at the Gemalink deep-sea terminal. The electric barge will be charged with 100% certified renewable electricity and can transport over 50000 standard containers annually.
According to Alphaliner's data, Dafei's fleet currently operates 649 container ships, including 300 self owned ships and 349 leased ships, with a total capacity of approximately 3.82 million TEUs and a market share of 12.2%, ranking third in the world. In addition, Dafei Shipping has up to 76 new ships under construction, totaling approximately 1.15 million TEUs, ranking second in the world, with orders in hand accounting for approximately 30.1% of its existing fleet capacity.
