Nation's Largest! Jiangxin Shipbuilding's 40-meter Hybrid Power Pilot Boat Sets Sail
On March 15th, the "Ningbo Gangyin 02," (JX775), China's largest and the country's first 40-meter class hybrid-powered steel pilot boat, built by Jiangxi Jiangxin Shipbuilding Co., Ltd., a subsidiary of Jiangxi Military Industry Group for Ningbo Dagang Pilotage Co., Ltd., set sail for its destination port for delivery and commissioning.
The "Ningbo Gangyin 02" is the first 40-meter class pilot boat in China to use hybrid propulsion, and it is currently the largest hybrid-powered pilot boat in the country. The ship is approximately 40 meters long, 7.4 meters wide, and 3.4 meters deep. It uses dual-propulsion motor drive, dual rudders, and dual propellers. It has a design speed of 15 knots, a cruising range of 600 nautical miles, and features quiet operation, energy efficiency, environmental friendliness, safety, and high efficiency, as well as good ship stability and resistance to waves.
The pilot boat is equipped with a new energy hybrid power system, which is a hybrid mode organically combining a diesel generator set, lithium batteries, and a photovoltaic power generation system. Under different operating conditions, the ship's advanced energy management system automatically optimizes the output mode of the diesel generator set and batteries. During operation, the diesel-to-battery energy consumption ratio can reach 2:3. Relying on the hybrid mode, it can significantly reduce fuel consumption and pollution emissions, achieving energy saving, low carbon, and environmental protection through digitalization.
Based on an annual operation of 2000 hours, the ship is expected to save approximately 39% in energy and reduce carbon dioxide emissions by about 45% compared to conventional power boats. It can save 98.73 tons of fuel, reduce carbon emissions by 248.9 tons, reduce nitrogen emissions by 949.78 tons, and reduce particulate matter emissions by 0.235 tons. At the same time, the ship is equipped with an advanced energy management system and motor direct-drive technology. Based on an annual pure battery operation of approximately 1200 hours, the total annual operating costs are estimated to be about 1.1 million yuan less than existing pilot boats of the same size.
The "Ningbo Gangyin 02" pilot boat is mainly used to provide pilotage services for the entry and exit of domestic and foreign vessels in the Ningbo-Zhoushan port, ensuring the safe and efficient entry and exit of vessels. The careful design and successful construction of this hybrid pilot boat is an important measure for Jiangxi's shipbuilding industry to promote the creation of a new type of productivity. After delivery and commissioning, it will further enhance the quality and service level of pilotage in the Ningbo-Zhoushan port and inject new impetus into the high-quality development of China's marine economy.
