Beihai Shipbuilding's two 210,000-ton bulk carriers were delivered ahead of schedule.
On June 4th, Beihai Shipbuilding, a subsidiary of CSSC, successfully launched hull number 42, a 210,000-ton LNG dual-fuel bulk carrier built for Japan's Mitsui O.S.K. Lines, and hull number 52, a 210,000-ton ammonia-ready bulk carrier built for CMB.TECH of Belgium. This achievement was 11 days ahead of schedule, meeting the 50-day dry-docking target. The completion rates for both vessels were 92% and 94% respectively, marking a new level in the company's management and production capabilities in the construction of its main ship types, and demonstrating further success in lean management.
Through seamless coordination of the wharf unloading, hoisting, and pouring teams, and 3D simulation of the LNG tank hoisting, the LNG tank installation was completed in just 18 hours, a reduction of approximately 8 hours compared to previous times, significantly shortening the key operation time.
Through meticulous planning adjustments and cross-departmental collaboration, the installation of the stern winches on both vessels was completed in just 15 days, achieving the goal of full ship winch operation before launching. This resulted in approximately 30% savings in launching mooring costs and provided a solid foundation for the safe and stable launching of the vessels.
The installation of the hatch cover attachments on both vessels was completed in the dry dock and passed inspection on the first attempt. Hull number 52 achieved hatch operation before launching for the first time, creating favorable conditions for hull painting, hatch opening and flushing inspection, and main deck painting after launching.
Through visual kanban management, special project control, daily tracking of production progress, special project team promotion, and early equipment commissioning, hull number 52 perfectly met the requirements of the "three connections and one row, four machines and one furnace" special plan within the shortened 50-day dry-docking period. This includes: main switchboard energization, engine room lighting energization, engine room fan operation, full ship fire water and bilge water drainage; full ship winch operation, rudder motor oil injection operation, boiler ignition, main engine with compartment string cleaning oil, generator start-up and alarm point report inspection.
Building on the achievement of "hanging curtains and lighting" as a normalized goal, the pre-launching work included the commissioning and inspection of the master and slave clocks, automatic telephones, fire alarms, and some communication equipment, laying a solid foundation for comprehensive commissioning after launching.
This achievement is not an endpoint, but a new starting point. Beihai Shipbuilding will continue to uphold the corporate spirit of "striving for excellence and innovation", solidifying the achievements of lean management into standardized practices to ensure high-quality and safe delivery of products at all stages.
