The first 6600-ton chemical tanker in the series built by Wuhu Shipyard launched
Recently, the first 6600-ton stainless steel chemical tanker built by Wuhu Shipyard for Norwegian shipowner RFOcean was launched. This vessel is a benchmark vessel representing Wuhu Shipyard's commitment to specialized and high-end production and construction. It innovatively utilizes a template trolley for maximum on-site module assembly.
Representatives including Mr. Frederik, CEO of RFOcean; Mr. Hans, broker of Grieg; Mr. Ma Jinxiang, regional manager of Bureau Veritas; and Mr. Preben, chairman of Link Marine, attended the launching ceremony.
As another stainless steel chemical tanker using DC drive technology, this vessel, compared to the four "Ding Heng" 6600-ton duplex stainless steel smart chemical tankers delivered by Wuhu Shipyard in 2022, has reduced the thickness of its cargo hold stainless steel plates to 7mm, making its construction more challenging. Its higher level of intelligence will give the shipowner a ten-year lead in the green industry competition, and its intelligent liquid cargo management system will redefine safety standards for chemical tankers.
During construction, the construction team planned ahead and migrated processes. Using a building-block approach and making full use of shipyard resources, they assembled 70 sections into larger sections, maximizing the size of these larger sections. Using a modular trolley for horizontal movement, they successfully transported ship sections weighing over 10,000 tons, achieving an "ant moving an elephant" feat. A hydraulic 3D positioning instrument was used to achieve millimeter-level precision docking of complex hull sections, with positioning errors controlled to within 2mm, completing the one-time assembly of the main sections. Simultaneously, the vessel achieved zero-defect underwater painting of the ballast tanks. During the launch, a slanted slipway was used for the first time, utilizing an inclined track and a gravity sliding system, allowing the vessel to enter the water smoothly and without vibration, breaking the limitations of traditional launching methods. This also marks a further improvement in Wuhu Shipyard's hardware facilities and capabilities, laying the foundation for rapid platform line assembly and launching by 2025.

Next, the project team will continue to cooperate with the shipowner, classification society, and other relevant parties, carrying forward the Wuhu Shipyard spirit of "unity, struggle, pragmatism, and innovation," working diligently and collaboratively to ensure timely delivery.
