Annual production of 25 vessels! Another new shipbuilding base project kicks off.
On September 27, the shipbuilding base project of Hubei Haike Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. was officially signed and settled in Yidu. Li Jiquan, Chairman of Hubei Haike Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co., Ltd., and General Manager Ye Bao, along with Ding Qingrong, Vice Chairman of the Standing Committee of the Yichang Municipal People's Congress, and Zhou Bin, Deputy Secretary of the Yidu Municipal Party Committee and Mayor, attended the signing ceremony.
In his speech, Li Jiquan emphasized that the industrial foundation is the "hard power" that attracts businesses to establish themselves here, while a favorable business environment serves as the "soft gold" that helps Haike Shipbuilding stay committed to the region. The Yidu Municipal Party Committee and Government have taken a proactive, high-level approach, with relevant departments working in seamless coordination to provide end-to-end, hands-on support throughout the project's implementation—further strengthening the company's confidence in taking root in Yidu, scaling up operations, and achieving long-term success. Looking ahead, Haike Shipbuilding will meticulously adhere to stringent standards in planning and constructing its Yidu production base. At the same time, the company will remain steadfastly committed to innovation-driven growth, actively exploring intelligent upgrades in shipbuilding processes, and eagerly embracing the green and smart industry trends. Together, they will strive to build a state-of-the-art manufacturing facility, contributing significantly to local economic development and job creation.
In his speech, Ding Qingrong stated that as the global "Dual Carbon" goals drive the shipping industry toward a green and intelligent transformation, the shipbuilding sector is now entering a golden era of development. Haikoo Shipbuilding must firmly embrace the guiding principle of technological innovation, adhering to the development direction of "larger-scale, greener, smarter, and more standardized production." With the ambitious goal of "building a green, smart shipyard and manufacturing eco-friendly, cutting-edge vessels," the company aims to revolutionize and upgrade its shipbuilding model. Meanwhile, Yidu City should further strengthen project service support, refine implementation strategies, set clear timelines, and work collaboratively to accelerate the project's early commissioning. This will inject stronger momentum into Yichang's efforts to speed up its development as a model city for Yangtze River conservation and establish itself as a pioneering zone for an "electrified Yangtze River."
In his speech, Zhou Bin stated that the official establishment of this shipbuilding base project in Yidu reflects not only Haikoo Shipbuilding's deep trust in Yidu's high-quality industrial ecosystem, unique geographical advantages, and vast development potential—but also serves as a vivid testament to Yidu City's world-class business environment and highly efficient government service delivery. This marks a mutual recognition of the region's growing appeal for investment and the company's forward-thinking strategic vision. Moving forward, Yidu will commit itself to providing "maximum support" in service delivery, adopting a "pragmatic and hands-on" approach to ensure smooth implementation, and fostering an "optimal environment" to guarantee robust project outcomes. With "Yidu Speed," the city will energetically drive the project toward early site selection, timely commencement, swift construction, and rapid commissioning, jointly writing a new chapter of collaborative progress between Yidu and Haikoo Shipbuilding.
Hubei Haike Shipbuilding & Heavy Industry Co., Ltd. was established on October 30, 2024, and is located in the Qixingtai Shipbuilding Industrial Park in Zhijiang City. Its business scope covers a variety of fields, including metal shipbuilding and marine equipment manufacturing. The company focuses on diversified business segments such as specialized vessel design and construction, as well as the export of intelligent shipping equipment.
Haike Shipbuilding's shipbuilding base project will be located in the Yidu Green and Intelligent Ship Industry Park. Once fully operational, the facility is expected to achieve an annual shipbuilding capacity of 250,000 deadweight tons and produce 25 ships each weighing over 10,000 tons annually. This will create strong synergies with existing enterprises within the Yidu Intelligent Ship Industry Park, further strengthening Yidu's growing cluster of new-energy ship and intelligent equipment manufacturing industries.
It is understood that the project will require a total investment of 1 billion yuan and will occupy approximately 268 mu of land. Key facilities to be constructed include a 5,000-square-meter office building, a 10,800-square-meter green and intelligent workshop, a 3,600-square-meter painting workshop, and a 20,000-square-meter segmented shipyard. Additionally, a 500m x 50m final assembly shipyard line and a 150m x 60m final assembly workshop will be established. The project will introduce two gantry-type welding robot production lines and two laser cutting lines, adopting an integrated hull-structure-coating shipbuilding approach. Upon completion and operation, it is expected to produce 25 standardized multi-purpose ships for the Yangtze River region annually.
In addition to the shipbuilding base project in Yidu City, Haike Shipbuilding also announced a "Shipbuilding Base Construction Project" this past May, with a total investment of up to 3 billion yuan. Located in Zhaolouzi Village, Qixingtai Town, Zhijiang City, the project spans 420 mu of land and includes the construction of standardized factory buildings totaling 29,325 square meters. Upon completion, the project is expected to achieve an annual production capacity of 200,000 deadweight tons of steel-built vessels. Notably, the company has already obtained the "Hubei Province Fixed Asset Investment Project Filing Certificate" issued by the Zhijiang City Development and Reform Bureau.
